By delivering a constant 5A per bank, the charger manages the 150W total output without significant thermal throttling. The 7-stage process is critical for battery health; it begins with a diagnostic check, followed by a soft start, bulk charging, absorption, and a specialized desulfation phase. During desulfation, the unit uses high-voltage pulses to break down lead-sulfate crystals that accumulate on plates of lead-acid, agm, and gel batteries, effectively restoring lost capacity. For lithium (LiFePO4) batteries, the GEN5X2 bypasses desulfation to apply a specific constant-current/constant-voltage (CC/CV) profile that protects the internal Battery Management System (BMS). The absence of alternator testing is offset by its superior maintenance logic, which utilizes a precise trickle charge mode to offset self-discharge in batteries up to 120Ah.
